Siena College Director of Athletics John D’Argenio has announced that Carmen Maciariello will not return as the head coach of the men’s basketball program.
Winning the regular season title in his first two years at the helm of the Siena Saints men's basketball program has apparently gone under the radar for his fellow MAAC coaches and that always seems to be OK with the kid from Clifton Park. Saints' head coach Carm Maciariello has done nothing but win, even under some ridiculously restrictive conditions. So, when the MAAC coaches poll came out Tuesday evening and Siena was picked 8th, I laughed. Nope, certainly not at the Saints but at the coaches that voted.
It is so much nicer to report on sports that are going to play than when I had to continually tell you what was postponed or canceled. Today Siena College and the MAAC announced the 2020 - 2021 Women's basketball schedule. As Head Coach Ali Jaques always says GO SAINTS!
The MAAC Council of Presidents has decided that all Fall Sports conference and non-conference will begin on September 11th, 2020. This will make for a level playing field across the entire MAAC and reportedly would still allow the Siena Saints basketball teams to complete a full season.
