How Surprising Was It Seeing Ian Anderson Traded To The Angels?
I was very surprised when Ian Anderson got traded on Sunday afternoon from the Atlanta Braves to the Los Angeles Angels. I was reading from some MLB beat writers that he was ready for a chance to start in their rotation to begin the season. But then I was blindsided that he got traded and was on the brink of being released by the Braves front office. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Ian Anderson was on the verge of being released by the Atlanta Braves before he was traded to the LA Angels on Sunday. The Shenendehowa grad had a pretty good spring training with an ERA of 2.25 in six starts and multi reports had Anderson in the starting rotation but apparently not. The knock-on Anderson has been his command with too many walks and that was a big reason why the Braves traded the right-handed pitcher who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023. Angels' manager Ron Washington will use Anderson out of the bullpen to start the season and let's hope Ian can return to old form when he so successful in his first 2 seasons in the Major's.

I hope Ian finds success and comfort with his new team and is allowed to start. The rumors are that he will begin in the bullpen. He has a great fastball and a nasty changeup but just has to limit his walks overall. We wish him nothing but the best of luck and can't wait to follow him throughout the season.
