How Was Day One For Summer 2024 At Saratoga Racecourse?
Boy was day one a success here at Saratoga Racecourse on Thursday. The best story of the day by far and away was when The Queens MG won the Schuylerville Stakes. The horse was a 44-1 underdog which is absolutely insane. No experts would have ever predicted that outcome and in fact never even mentioned the horse's name to me at all in my travels both radio and TV side. To make it even better, the jockey Dylan Davis is local and from Saratoga. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
One day into the Saratoga racing season and there is already a buzz about the $1.25 Million Travers Stakes August 24th. The early storyline is Thorpedo Anna a Filly from the Ken McPeek barn might try and beat the boys in the Mid-Summer Classic which would add more hype to a race that doesn't need much hype at all. Thorpedo Anna won the Kentucky Oakes on May 5th at Churchill Downs, and she could steal the show on Travers Saturday.

You could not have asked for a better start to the day of the 40 day racing festival. The announced crowd was well over 28,000 people which is so awesome. More and more people continue to show up and show out here and I think in large part because of the Belmont Stakes and how many new people came for that. Every year more people flock to Saratoga as it is the place to be in the Capital Region and always will be. Let's all enjoy summer 2024 at the Spa.
