Ian Anderson to Debut Wednesday; Brother to Go to College
Big news for the dynamic Anderson boys came out the other day:
It's reported that Ian will throw 35-40 pitches for the GCL Braves on Wednesday (from Marisa Jacques). That's a good number for Anderson, who hasn't seen game action in a month since Shenendehowa advanced to the NYS State title game in Binghamton.
The more interesting note here is Ben Anderson electing to forego pro ball in favor of Binghamton. While the allure of a pro career early is certainly real, the time to develop and be a college athlete is also very real.
Ben Anderson just started really pitching this year. By going to Binghamton, he can refine his skills and put himself in a position to be drafted much higher in 3-4 years. Binghamton is where a fellow Shen grad, Murphy Smith, went. He got drafted as well by the Oakland Athletics and is currently in the Toronto Blue Jays system.
