After throwing a scoreless inning in the MLB Futures Game last night in San Diego, Shaker graduate Jeff Hoffman continues to impress.

He struck out one in his inning of work and hit 96 MPH on that strikeout. He's the highest rated Colorado Rockies prospect and appears close to reaching the Mile High City.

How close is he? We brought in Hoffman's dad today, who was in San Diego, to talk about the experience of the Futures Game, but Hoffman Sr. also said that he heard from Hoffman Jr.'s agent at the game:

The agent said that Hoffman will be shut down for two weeks and then will be limited to four innings per start for some time being.

How do I take this? That the Rockies are getting close to promoting him and that they want his innings later this summer to come in Colorado and not in the Minor Leagues.
