Is It Finally Matt Gage’s Time To Shine In New York With The Mets?
Matt Gage just got called up by the New York Mets and I am loving it. The lefty is a Broadalbin Perth graduate and went to Siena and was a highly successful pitcher there too. Gage is the true definition of an MLB journeyman as he started his career with the Toronto Blue Jays, then went to the Houston Astros, and now recently got signed with the New York Mets. He was even with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees for a little bit. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
It’s time for Matt Gage to take full advantage of being on the New York Mets roster because it’s they're for the taking. The Broadalbin Perth and Siena grad got called up from Triple-A Syracuse and joins a struggling Mets bullpen who is waiting for someone to step up. Great opportunity for Gage who pitched well for the Houston Astros and has proven he can get the job done. Gage has been grinding through the minors for years and it’s about time he settles in somewhere. If he can produce, he will stick and join a Mets franchise that is on the right path to having success for years to come.

The Mets desperately need bullpen help and Gage should be a big help in that area. He has an excellent repertoire of pitches to mix in and dominate hitters and he has had a great start to 2024 statistically this season.
