Is This One Of The Strongest Fields Ever For The Travers Stakes?
It is the best week of the year for horse racing not only locally but nationally as well. The running of the Travers will be Saturday evening and I can't wait. I will have a big group of 20 or so people coming in a party bus on Saturday afternoon as I do every year. The weather looks good and the crowd should be awesome with a loaded field. Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
The Travers Stakes is shaping up as one of the best at least on paper that we have seen in many years. All three Triple Crown winners are in the field along with Forte who was the two-year old champion and would have been the favorite in the Kentucky Derby before suffering a bruised foot. Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher is going to be tough to beat but fans like bet against the favorite. I might have a hard time doing that on Saturday in the Mid-Summer Derby. It's a quality field and Belmont Stakes winner Arcangelo might be the best of the seven three-year-olds in the field. It's not and easy race to predict the winner.

We have enjoyed our time every Friday broadcasting live at the Miller Time Four Star Dave for Big Board Sports as well. This summer has flown by and it all culminates with the Travers. I hope everybody can come to the track and enjoy the best race of the year. Nothing gets me more excited than Travers Saturday.
