Is Tonight a ‘Win & You’re In’ for Syracuse?
As I’m riding the train to New York City, I’m finding ways to believe Syracuse just might get the win it needs tonight to bolster its resume ahead of Selection Sunday. Did you see them play last night? Granted it was against Wake Forest, but Jim Boeheim’s team looked impressive for long stretches.
The best win of the season for the Orange came at Miami. Yes, I value that victory more than the regular season finale win over then-18th ranked Clemson. That said, beating North Carolina tonight, a team currently slated as a 2 seed by Joe Lunardi, would make Syracuse a lock for the big dance.
Is some of this based solely on Syracuse garnering respect from the committee because of name recognition? Yes, but I also know that, no matter how they get in or what sees they receive, the Orange are a dangerous matchup in March. The length of that 2-3 zone is difficult to simulate for a lot of teams, especially if only with one day of preparation time.
So who are you taking tonight? Syracuse or North Carolina?
