Is UAlbany’s Jonathan Beagle Having A Better Year Than Last Year?
The UAlbany men's basketball team got a nice America East conference win on the road at NJIT on Saturday afternoon. A big reason why was because of the performance and play of sophomore forward Jonathan Beagle. He has been back to his freshman season performances and continues to get double doubles which are helping lead the Great Danes to victory. He had a monster second half at NJIT to help lead his team to a 1-0 start in the America East Conference. Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Nice to see Jonathan Beagle playing at high level again this season for UAlbany. The Sophomore forward from Hudson Falls scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and grabbed 16 rebounds on Saturday in the Great Danes America East Conference opening win at NJIT. Beagle is better this season because of the addition of point guard Sebastian Thomas who takes the pressure off Beagle with his ability to score. When defenses decide to double Thomas it opens the passing lane for Bealge and Thomas is outstanding at making sure Beagle gets the ball in position to score. Beagle has been more aggressive this season on the glass and it's helping his overall game.
Next up for the Great Danes is a home game Saturday at 4 vs the Binghamton Bearcats. It should be a good and competitive game and I see UAlbany winning a close one as they are unbeaten at home and I see that continuing this Saturday.
