Major National Apparel Retailer to Close 200 Stores, Including 2 In Capital Region
For more than 100 years, Eddie Bauer has been in the business of selling outdoor apparel. Now, reports indicate, the outdoor clothing retailer is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will close all its North American locations, including 2 in the Capital Region.
Foot Locker, Game Stop, and Rite Aid are just a few other national brands that have recently announced either, bankruptcy, a reduction in the number of their stores, or a complete shutdown of their brand. At this rate asking "remember when" won't require your mind to go back too far.

According to Women's Wear Daily, the Eddie Bauer brand is planning to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and close all of their brick-and-mortar locations in North America. In January of 2023, Eddie Bauer closed it's store located in Saratoga Springs, NY. Now it appears the store in Colonie and Lake George are next. Here are the current New York locations;
- Cheektowaga - Walden Galleria
- Colonie - Northway Mall
- Deer Park - Tanger Outlets
- Lake George - Adirondack Outlet Mall
- Riverhead - Tanger Outlets
- Syracuse - Destiny USA
- Victor - Eastview Mall
- Waterloo - Premium Outlets
It appears Eddie Bauer locations outside of North America would not be affected affected by this bankruptcy filing. At one point, in the 1990's, the company operated more than 600 stores internationally.
