The deal finally happened and Juan Soto is officially a New York Met.  The Mets and owner Steve Cohen outbid the Yankees and owner Hal Steinbrenner.  Soto was not loyal to the Yankees at all as he chose and followed the money ultimately.  Yankees fans need to stop burning his jersey and being upset with his decision.  He is 26 years old and in the prime of his career and will do the best he can for himself.  And this is how MLB agent Scott Boras rolls.  He waits until the very last minute to get the most money for his clients.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Juan Soto was going land with the team who would pay him the most money and that team was the New York Mets. Nobody was going to outbid Mete owner Steve Cohen and he won the bidding war which will pay Soto $765 million over 15 years. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner made a competitive offer but came up short. It didn't matter that Soto helped lead the Yankees to a World Series appearance last season or that he had a great year batting in front of Aaron Judge. None of that mattered. In the end all that mattered was the money. The pressure is now on the Mets to win multiple World Series Championships with Soto in the lineup.

Now this puts the Mets as instant contenders for a World Series title for years to come now.  How about these New York Mets stealing the back pages from the New York Yankees.
