This UAlbany football team continues to impress me each week.  They are significantly better than they were a year ago and it's not even close.  The personnel changes made with the coaching staff and the defense playing better overall cohesively as a unit has been a game changer.  The Great Danes completely dominated the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday winning by a final score of 31-10.  This feels like one of the better teams Coach Gattuso has had in his tenure at UAlbany in his now tenth season.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:

Saturdays win by the UAlbany football team was the most complete performance I have seen from a Greg Gattuso football team in a while. The Great Danes dominated Villanova, especially defensively. Their defense is legit this year and when you have quarterback Reese Poffenbarger playing at a high level this team is going to be a tough out in the CAA conference. It's only one game but it was statement win against a Villanova team that was ranked in the FCS polls. I would look for UAlbany to crack the Top-25 this week.

Next up for UAlbany is on the road at Towson this Saturday at 4 p.m.  MJ will be on the call solo in what should be a good game and another one that UAlbany can win.  It's very important to get that 1-0 start in the CAA conference and they have done that now.  It is going to be a very fun season calling these games knowing UAlbany is legit and will be competing in every game and has so far this season.
