Kevin Millwood has elected to opt out of his contract with the New York Yankees after not being called up.

Kevin Millwood signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees worth $1.5 million dollars plus incentives toward the end of Spring Training.  He had a clause in his contract where he could opt out on May 1st if he wasn't added to the major league roster.

Let's review here.  Kevin Millwood was 4-16 with a 5.10 ERA with the Baltimore Orioles last year.  His fastball was in the mid-to-upper 80's.  He gave up seven hits and six runs in only two innings of work during is final start for Triple-A Scranton.  This is like the ugly chick who has nothing in common with you saying she's not interested in dating you.  Uhh, okay.  I wouldn't exactly label this news as being an enormous blow to the 2011 New York Yankees.
