A bit of history could be made today in Section II as Maple Hill boys' soccer coach Dan Gillespie goes for his 600th career win today against Hudson today at 4:15 at Maple Hill.

Gillespie has been stuck on 599 wins since last October.

He's the winningest boys' soccer coach in Section II history. He's been at Maple Hill since 1974.

His 599 wins are second most all-time in boys' soccer in New York State. Charlie Engle acquired 627 with Mt. Markham/Leonardsville.

Gillespie's career record is 599-170-29 and he has led Maple Hill to 22 league championships, 18 sectional championships, and three state championships (1998, 2000, and 2006).

Regardless of whether Gillespie gets the record today or not, he's going to get it this season. What an accomplishment that will be. 600 wins? He's been here for 41 years. That's a great testament to longevity and his prolonged success.

Last year we got the thrill of watching Joel Wincowski (Lake George) break Jimmer's all-time Section II scoring record in boys' basketball, and now, we'll get to see this great accomplishment.
