After losing to the Kansas City Royals last October in the World Series, and then having to watch those same Royals celebrate that championship in front of them to start this season, the New York Mets got a chance to celebrate on Thursday.

The players were given these National League Championship rings at Citi Field. The Mets open up at home on Friday.

LOOK at the rings here:

The Mets brought Zack Wheeler and Josh Edgin back from Florida to participate in the festivities and retired OF Michael Cuddyer also came back for the ceremony.

While the rings were a nice consolation prize, the Mets know what the goal is in 2016:

The Mets split with the Royals in the opening series and go to Citi Field at 1-1. Armed with the best rotation in the NL and a competent lineup, the Mets are a favorite to win the whole thing this year.
