If you have paid attention to news around the NFL the last two months, then you likely know about the ongoing lawsuit from former Miami Dolphins head coach, Brian Flores.

Flores is suing the Dolphins, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the NFL over racism in coaching hires. Flores has allegations of sham interviews as well as claiming Dolphins owner Stephen Ross offered money for losses in 2019.

On Thursday, former Arizona Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks and former NFL coordinator Ray Horton joined the lawsuit. Wilks says he was used as a bridge coach and not given a fair shot in Arizona. Horton claims that the Tennessee Titans gave him a sham interview in 2016.

Then, likely the most damning piece of public evidence was revealed.

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Mike Mularkey said on a recent podcast that the Titans ownership told him he would be named the next head coach, before the rest of the interviews took place.

Mularkey said only to fill the requirement of the Rooney Rule, which requires that teams interview a minority candidate.

Mularkey was the Titans head coach from 2016-2017, along with being an interim head coach in 2015 after Ken Whisenhunt was fired.

Mularkey was the Bills head coach from 2004-2005. Before that he was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mularkey was in Tennessee before being hired as the permanent head coach, but this confirms that Horton’s interview was indeed a sham.

This story and the lawsuit will be a hit topic for a long time.
