We are counting down the days until NFL season returns and we are almost there. Training camps officially began this past week across the NFL and the New York Giants opened up year one under John Harbaugh in Greenbriar, West Virginia. The Giants open up with much more excitement and optimism than they've had in years. It's still early, but here's our big headlines after the first few days of camp.

Malik Nabers is on the field

Following an incredible rookie campaign, Malik Nabers had Giants fans terrified when he suffered a grueling knee injury that cost him most of his sophomore season. After a couple surgeries there was a real concern over whether Nabers would be ready to go for camp and the beginning of the season. Well concerns were put at ease this week as Malik Nabers was not on the PUP list and was participating in individual drills the first few days of camp. The videos that have come out of Nabers at camp have looked very solid. His route running and change of direction doesn't seem to be affected by the surgeries, but we still have to see how he looks against actual defense.

Abdul Carter may have a breakout season

After taking Abdul Carter third overall in the draft, Giants fans expected a top edge rusher in the NFL. Carter's rookie year numbers did not display a third overall pick with game changing talent. But in the first few days of camp, Carter has been unstoppable. Rushing right by left tackle Andrew Thomas on more than a couple occasions. In a crowded defensive line room, Carter remains one of the biggest threats to have a breakout year this season.

The vibes are different

Of course when you hire a Super Bowl winning head coach, change is expected. But it's been clear that John Harbaugh wants to instill a culture change in New York. He wants to win, and take this team back to the top, and he might be the perfect guy to do it.
