Yes, Alabama obliterated Notre Dame 42-14, but don't be one of these stupid fans that say the Irish didn't even belong in the title game.

Notre Dame was thoroughly dominated in the BCS National Championship Game 42-14 by Alabama on Monday night in Miami.  It was an embarrassment.  I’m originally from South Bend, IN.  I bleed Notre Dame football.  It pains me to say that the Irish were pulverized, but that exactly what happened.

I have no problem with people describing just how badly Notre Dame lost to Alabama.  It was beyond brutal.  However, it drives me crazy when fans say that Notre Dame didn’t belong in the title game because Alabama crushed them.  It’s a ridiculously stupid statement to make.  I had to fend off some bad logic by a few people in the Capital Region on Tuesday that tried to make this claim on “The Noe Show.”

Under this current BCS system, the Irish absolutely belonged on that National Championship Game stage.  The Irish played one of the toughest schedules in the country and ran the table.  Notre Dame could’ve lost 120-14 and it wouldn’t have changed their regular season credentials.  Don’t have selective memory loss and conveniently forget about ND’s legitimate resume.
