Today was the release date of the USA Today coaches' preseason poll, and Oklahoma has been named college football's Number One team. The Sooners received 42 of the 59 first-place votes, easily beating out all other contenders for the top spot.

Also receiving first-place votes were the teams ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th: Alabama (13 votes), Oregon and LSU (2 votes each). Rounding out the Top 5 in the preseason poll is ACC favorite Florida State. The rankings will be shaken up immediately during Opening Weekend, with LSU hosting Oregon in primetime on Saturday September 3rd (8 p.m. on ABC).

Auburn is ranked 19th in the poll, the lowest ranking for a defending champion since USA Today began the coaches' poll in 1991. TCU, who finished second in last season's final poll, begins the year #15.

Another notable team in the Top 25 is Ohio State (16th), despite losing star quarterback Terrell Pryor and head coach Jim Tressell during a hectic offseason. And from the "Over-Rated Department," the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame sit at number 18 in the poll.
