On the basketball court, UAlbany's Peter Hooley has done pretty much everything. He's been a leader. He's been to three NCAA tournaments. He's hit a game-winning shot to send the Danes to one of those NCAA tournaments, and he's in the top five all-time in program's scoring.

But now, Hooley is helping fight something much more than America East opponents:

Hooley lost his mother Sue to colon cancer in 2015 and is now helping spread the word on getting screened for the disease in a PSA put together by SUNY.

Hooley is a role model for the Capital Region and an athlete that the Albany community will miss next season.

You will have at least one more chance to see Hooley play in his career as the Danes are expected to accept a bid to a postseason tournament.

The CBI, CIT, and Vegas16 all remain possibilities for the Danes, who finished 24-8 this year.
