Queensbury native, and frequent guest on "Sound-off with Sinkoff", Brendan Harris was traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Baltimore Orioles today.

So what does this mean for me?

It means I now have a new favorite player on the Baltimore Orioles - #23 Brendan Harris!!

No, seriously, I think this is a great move for the Orioles.  Since they just lost Ty Wigginton to the Colorado Rockies, the Birds needed a new utility infielder and they got that in Harris.  The Queensbury High School graduate can play SS, 3B, 1B or 2B.   In addition, the Orioles also got shortstop J.J. Hardy in the deal.

I had a chance to talk with Brendan by phone earlier today and he told me he's extremely happy with a new opportunity.  Harris spent most of last season in "AAA" after struggling in the beginning of the season.  But he will, no doubt, be on the Orioles Opening Day roster for 2011.  He provides a solid fielder on the bench that can play everyday if need be and also has a pretty decent bat (he's a career .260 hitter that hit a career-best .286 for Tampa Bay in 2007).

So now, when my Orioles take on the Yankees or Red Sox, I have an even better reason to root against them!!
