John Lackey is coming off the worst season of his career.  He had a 12-12 record with a 6.41 ERA.  Right now he is not earning the $82.5 million dollars that Boston decided to give him over the course of five years.  He is now scheduled to get Tommy John surgery, which ends his 2012 season before it even begins.

Lackey was also the center of attention as of late when it was made public that him along with other Sox pitchers Jon Lester and Josh Beckett were drinking beer in the clubhouse during games.  He has denied those claims, but MLB is going to look into it.
