Saturday Night Live Takes Shot At New York Jets [VIDEO]
It may be the offseason but the Jets are still taking hits. The latest coming from Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" host Colin Jost. New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has loosened the rules keeping fans from attending sporting events to allow ten percent capacity if all COVID-19 guidelines are met. SNL took that feel-good news and used it to send some unnecessary roughness in the Jets direction.
Ok calling 10% capacity "Jets Level" attendance is pretty funny. The Jets haven't had a winning season since 2015 and haven't won the AFC East since 2002. The fans have been forced to rent billboards, fly planes, and waive towels to get general managers fired. They've been through more coaches and quarterbacks than any respectable franchise ever would in the last two decades. I mean even "Fireman Ed" who leads the "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS" chant quit as a fan a few years back. So I get why this is funny BUT sadly Cuomo's ruling has no say over the Jets attendance unless they're playing the Bills at Bills Stadium. You see the Jets play at MetLife and that's in New Jersey.
I hate being the "There's only one New York NFL team" guy but since the poor Jets were minding their own business and just hired what looks like a solid head coach, I felt the need to defend them. Eh, who am I kidding? Between the Jets joke and saying that governor Cuomo looks like Mo Sizlack from "The Simpsons" that was a SOLID Weekend Update!
