It was Super Saturday in Section II wrestling as five classes went to the mats.  In Division I, Class I (Class A) at Colonie, Shenendehowa had a great showing with nine wrestlers taking championships en route to scoring 314 points for the team title championship.

Kevin Parker (99), Corey Ali (106), Jesse Porter (113), Nick Kelley (132), David Almaviva (138), Levi Ashley (182), Tony Fusco (195) Will Mars (220), and Cole Lampman (285) recorded titles for the Plainsmen.

Columbia, which finished second to Shenendehowa in the Suburban Council this season, again found itself in a familiar place scoring 227.5 points.

Kyle Greene (120), Matt Greene (126), Evan Wallace (145), Angelo Kress (152) and Brian Adriance (170) captured titles for Columbia.

The Division I, Class II (Class B) sectionals at Queensbury featured Amsterdam's Brandon Lapi winning the 113-pound championshp. The host school earned team honors with 233.5 points to outdistance Amsterdam, 214.

Six wrestlers won titles to help Hudson Falls take the spotlight in Division II Class I (Class CC) competition at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Hudson Falls compiled 260 points while the Indians took second at 209.5.

In Division II, Class II (Class C) activity at Galway High School, Hoosick Falls finished first with 197.5 points while the host school placed runnerup at 174.

Steven Culbert (126) brought home a title for Galway.

And finally, Division II, Class III (Class D) saw Berne-Knox-Westerlo win team honors with 199 points to beat Salem, 182.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo had four winners in John Richards (160), Matt Casulo (170), Joe Sprung (220) and Jesse Montesano (285).

The top six finishers in Division I, Class I and Division I, Class II and top four in Division II, Class I, Division II, Class II and Division II, Class III now compete in the Section II State Qualifier at the Glens Falls Civic Center, Saturday and Sunday and then the ultimate goal, the state meet at Times Union Center, Feb. 24-25.
