Should The New York Giants Bench Quarterback Daniel Jones?
The New York Football Giants had one of the worst week one performances I have ever seen on Sunday afternoon. The Giants got throttled 28-6 by an average at best Minnesota Vikings team. Daniel Jones looked absolutely awful and he threw perhaps his worst interception ever which just happened to be a pick six. Giants fan already want him benched and I can't blame them. The pressure is on everyone associated with the New York Giants. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
I have been one the biggest apologists for Giants' quarterback Daniel Jones but no longer not after watching his play on Sunday against Minnesota. He looked lost and if he doesn't dramatically improve its going to be another long season for the Giants and head coach Brian Daboll's job will be on the line. It was not all Jones that was bad in Sunday loss because the secondary was a mess and needs lots of work. The Giants resembled the 6-11 team they were a year ago which is unacceptable and should not be tolerated by Co-Owner John Mara.
The Giants better beat the Washington Commanders in week two. For some reason Jones statistically almost always plays well vs the Commanders one of Big Blue's NFC East rivals. The Giants have to right the ship here and quick, otherwise head coach Brian Daboll has no choice to turn to either Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito. The pressure just turned up a notch for the entire Giants organization.
