Siena Assistant Bob Simon Leaving for Eastern Michigan [LISTEN]
It's already been an offseason full of turnover for the Siena men's basketball team, and it appears as though the coaching staff will also have a new look when the team returns to campus in the fall.
In his weekly visit to Levack & Bahl, Head Coach Carmen Maciariello talked about Simon, and wished both he and his family well as they head to Michigan. He also commented on promotions within the coaching staff, which you can listen to above.
Earlier today, the Saints announced on Twitter that assistant coach Bob Simon is leaving for Eastern Michigan. He's joining a staff helmed by Stan Heath, who joins the Eagles after being named Coach of the Year in the NBA's G League a year ago.
The quote from Siena was later confirmed by Times Union's Mark Singelais.
Simon just completed his second season as an assistant coach on the Saints' staff. Simon entered Siena with over 25 years of coaching experience. The team on-the-court has already gone through a great deal of change since the season concluded. The Saints lost Jalen Pickett to the transfer portal to Penn State and senior Manny Camper declared for the NBA Draft. All of this, and this year's roster had five players that were either seniors or graduate students.
