Siena Names Liam Gleason As New Lacrosse Coach
Liam Gleason has been a fixture in Capital Region Lacrosse for well over a decade. He played his college lacrosse at UAlbany where the 2007 team he was a defenseman on won the American East Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. From 2007 to 2010 Gleason was an assistant at Siena, 2011 he was the Head Coach at D2 Saint Rose and then 2012 to 2017 he returned to UAlbany as part of Scott Marr's staff and now he will complete against hie Alma mater back at Siena as their head coach.
In the Siena press release Siena AD John D'Argenio voiced his excited over Gleason returning:
“We are excited to welcome Liam back to Siena,” remarked D’Argenio. “It was very evident when he was here previously that he possessed the makeup to be a successful head coach. He comes from an outstanding program at UAlbany where he was part of the team’s national success, while also being an accomplished recruiter in the geographic areas where Siena has been successful in the past.”
I've had the opportunity to spend a little time with both Gleason and UAlbany Head Coach Scott Marr together. They have a clear respect for each other and both men are perfect to begin a friendly rivalry rooted in respect and the spirit of competition. In other words THIS IS ABOUT TO BE FUN.
