The MAAC Baseball Championships return to the Capital Region for the first time since 1998 May 24-27 with Siena College hosting the four-team event at Joseph Bruno Stadium in Troy.

The highlight of the Championships will be Friday night’s Fireworks Spectacular, set to follow the 7 p.m. game. All-session passes are available for $30 and include two games Thursday (3 and 7 p.m.), two games Friday (3 and 7 p.m.), two games Saturday (2 p.m. and the first Championship Game at 6 p.m.), and a single game Sunday (second Championship Game) at 1 p.m. if necessary.

Single session tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students, but groups of 10 or more can get in for as little as $2 by contacting the Siena Fan Relations Office at 487-2202 or e-mailing groupsales@siena.edu.

Area businesses are encouraged to contact the Siena Fan Relations Office to gain access to one of the 10 luxury suites at the stadium for the Championships. Other sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting corporate sales manager Tim Farrell at 518-782-6590.

All session and single session tickets can be purchased on-line at the MAAC Baseball Tournament Central Page.

The winner of the 2012 MAAC Championships will receive an automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Tournament.

Dozens of former MAAC baseball players have gone on to play professional baseball, some at the highest level. Siena’s John Lannan shutout Manhattan in the 2005 MAAC Tournament, and then advanced all the way to the majors as a starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals.

Siena is counting on strong support from Capital Region fans and businesses. A successful event could help lead to future Championship events in our area.
