This time the previous small market Cleveland Indians won the battle to Michael Bourne as the Mets decided that 11th pick in the 1st round was more valuable then a guy who could step right in and help this ballclub and by all accounts wanted to come to New York.

Chris Carpenter tossed a three-hitter to outpitch old pal Roy Halladay in a duel for the ages, and the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 in the deciding Game 5 of their NL playoff series.

The St. Louis Cardnials have forced a game five in the NLCS after beating the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday Night 5-3. Cardinals third Baseman David Freese was the star of the game going 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBI.

St. Louis had a late rally, but the Phillies were able to hold them and grab the 3-2 win on the road.  They now lead the Cardinals 2-1 and are one step closer to the NLCS.

Cliff Lee has been lights out all season, and most of his career.  The St. Louis Cardinals found a way to get to Lee and were able to rally past him, while the Cardinals defense was able to hold the Philles to just 1 hit after Chris Carpenter gave up 5 hits and 4 runs early.
