Talking Sectional Hoops w/ Steve Dagostino
The quarterfinals of the Section II boys' basketball tournament are the best days of the high school sports season, in my opinion.
The Class AA quarters at Hudson Valley CC on Saturday afternoon saw four games, three of which were very competitive. Shen, CBA, Guilderland and Green Tech are left standing in AA while Troy, Scotia, Amsterdam and Lansingburgh are left in Class A.
To break down this weekend's action and prepare you for the semifinals, we brought in Steve Dagostino of Dags Basketball. He's a Guilderland and St. Rose product who played professionally overseas and is now the top trainer in the area.
Furthermore, we asked Dags how good Joseph Girard III of Glens Falls is. The freshman already has more than 1,100 points in his career and could break Joel Wincowski's all-time Section II scoring record (more than 2,600) if he stays healthy.
We also asked Dags about the Class D matchup coming up between Fort Ann and Arglye.
