It has long been debated which city has the most passionate sports fans. Many cities love their respective teams, but what city has the craziest ones? The fans that are tailgating at 6AM and will sit through rain, snow, sleet, even record heat. It doesn't matter how bad the team is - they show up no matter what to cheer them on. In some cases they show up in record numbers simply to boo their team. Now that is dedication.

    New York

Obviously we here in the Capital Region know how much we love our New York Sports, and in NYC itself the passion is even higher. Whether it be the Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Jets, Giants or Rangers (Sorry Islanders you don't count) the fans are nuts. There is a reason why the people who sit in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium are called "creatures". New York fans are some of the craziest fans in sports. Anything short of a championship is seen as failure, but that's just the way it is.

    Pittsburgh

They show up like cockroaches and take over places. We have all seen Steeler fans and know how insane they can be. The same goes for all the Pittsburgh fans. They love their Pirates and Penguins too. Anytime you see a towel being swung in the air at a sporting event, you can thank Pittsburgh fans. I don't know if there is a football team that has so many fans all over the place! No matter where you go, there is a Steeler bar and they are all die hards.

    Boston/New England

Boston hands down as some of the most passionate fans in the business. If not for the Celtics winning championships through the 60's,70's and 80's they may have gone crazy. The Red Sox are always seen as an underdog even though year after year they are ranked as one of the best teams. The rivalry they have with New York alone is enough passion to fill up a planet. Some of the most intense games are between Boston and NY teams, and not just baseball. Hockey gets pretty heated too and ever since the Giants beat them in the Super Bowl and ruined that perfect record, Patriot fans have developed a hate for not just the Jets but also the Giants.

    Green Bay

One of the oldest teams in football is the Green Bay Packers. The fans are known as "cheese heads" and they love their football. They haven't really changed up their uniform in years and unlike most other teams, this one has the cities collective interest involved because part of it is owned by the people. I think of Packers games on Sunday kind of like going to church in a small town. Everyone is there. Last year they brought the Lombardi trophy back to "title town" and are hoping to do so again. Where your cheese hats proud Packer fans.

    Oakland

There are few places in sports you know not to wear the opposing teams colors, and Oakland is one of them. These guys are super serious about their Raiders no matter how good or bad they are. Sure, you can test your fate and show up wearing a John Elway jersey, but chances are you'll be leaving without said jersey and possibly a broken limb. It's just the price you pay for going to a Raiders game and rooting for the opposing team. Too bad they aren't as passionate about the A's, but the passion they have for their Raiders is more than most cities have for all their teams.

    Philadelphia

How could we forget about the lovable people of Philadelphia. Their neighbors to the west in Pittsburgh may have more titles, but the fans in the City of brotherly love are 10 times crazier about their teams. Phillies fans show no mercy to visiting Met fans and Eagles fans show no mercy to anyone, including their own team at times. It is one of the toughest places to play, with the most hardcore of people in the stands. Is Philly the most passionate city? Maybe, but we'll let you guys be the judge of that. Tell us you think has the most passionate fans.
