When it comes to Chris Paul, it is time for the Knicks to practice some abstinence. I know it’s tough, for the team and its fans, but we need to save ourselves. Just for one more year…

I know it hurts. We young, impressionable Knicks fans have never had a great point guard before. We just want to know what it feels like. It’s frustrating, but we need to have some self-respect. Remember the old us? Remember the team that would go ahead and give it up to the first fat center or flashy, tattoo-headed guard that batted his eyes our way? Sure, we thought it would make us cool, but it didn't. We were laughed at- by everyone. It’s taken a lot of hard work to recover from that "phase," let’s not backtrack now.

But seriously. The Knicks have very little to offer the Hornets for Chris Paul, and even if New Orleans is willing to take a package of expiring contracts and draft picks, the Knicks still need to stand firm. Chris Paul wants to come to New York. It is almost guaranteed that we will get him next off-season, without giving up any additional pieces. If there is one thing the "Big 3" in Miami taught us, it’s that three studs cannot win a ring completely on their own. The Knicks are already in a hole after the 'Melo deal, they cannot afford to dig a deeper one. This season, we Knicks fans need to enjoy being competitive with the team we have, and the organization needs to save expiring contracts and draft picks to build a supporting cast going forward. We will get Chris Paul, and it will be great, but there is no need to rush into anything. Not us, not now.
