The RPI Men’s Hockey Team Found Their New Head Coach
The RPI Men's Hockey team announced on Tuesday afternoon that they hired Eric Lang to be their next head coach. He will take over for Dave Smith who was a great coach and an even better person. Athletic director Dr Kristie Bowers made a good hire on paper and wants to get back to consistently winning in the ECAC. Fans will be ready to pack the Houston Field House this coming season in what should be a fun season. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
RPI looks to have made a solid hire in Eric Lang as their news men’s head hockey coach replacing the fired Dave Smith. Lang has 9 years of head coaching experience at AIC were he also played. Lang’s teams made the postseason tournament in seven of those years and that’s the most impressive part of his resume. It’s about time RPI consistently makes the payoffs and makes a run to the Final 4 in Lake Placid. Let’s see if Lang is the head coach to get things turned around for a storied program that’s been down for far too long.

The ECAC continues to get better and better and Lang brings an impressive resume with a lot of experience. RPI will have another talented roster bringing some key players back. I'm excited to meet and maintain a good relationship with Coach Lang and I hope the RPI community welcomes him with open arms. Welcome to the Capital Region Eric Lang.
