MLB Studio Host for TBS Casey Stern says there are two different factors that will dictate whether or not the Mets can beat the Dodgers in the first round.

"It’s going to be determined on two things," said Stern, to 'Armen and Levack, on 104.5 The Team. "One, the bullpen overall and two, their inability to get left-handers out.

"They have no lefties in their pen. This is a major, major problem and Steven Matz should be in the bullpen for this baseball team. Go back to David Price with the Rays in 2008, they knew what he would be when he helped them in the 8th inning. Go back to [Alexi] Ogando with the Rangers, who nobody could touch him until the World Series, he was maybe the biggest reason they got there.

"To bring in Matz out of the pen, as a left-hander, he’s got a 95-96 against Adrian Gonzalez, and Corey Seager, and Jimmy Rollins and some of these guys you are going to have. I think it’s extremely important, I’d rather have Colon start game 4, give up three or four runs, all game four starters do that and have Matz be a guy who can come out and get lefties.

"That’s probably not what they’re going to do, we don’t even know if Matz can start because of the stiffness in the back, but I think the Mets bullpen overall, specifically their inability to get lefties out, may send them home in the next week."
