UAlbany and Coach Killings Win a Close One Over Binghamton
The UAlbany Great Danes men's basketball team has been up and down so far this season, but I think that changed after Wednesday night. UAlbany beat Binghamton 68-67 behind a career night from Jarvis Doles who led with 21 points. UAlbany has picked up their energy and intensity and are competing very hard especially recently. They are hitting their stride as the regular season is coming to an end rather shortly. Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:
If the UAlbany men’s basketball team can bottle Wednesdays performance at Binghamton, the Great Danes will win some games down the stretch of the regular season. UAlbany defended at a high level, made 10 plus three pointers, and kept the score in the 60’s, as that is the winning formula for UAlbany. Binghamton scored 88 points against UAlbany back on January 6th and beat the Great Danes by nine. Wednesday’s win also puts UAlbany right back in position to secure a home game in the America East playoffs.
MJ and I were surprised and thrilled to be joined by Coach Dwayne Killings in studio as he joined us for his weekly segment in our local college basketball extravaganza earlier today. Below is our full conversation with him.
Coach Killings told us that he loves how the culture of the team and the community has improved each day and that his guys compete whether it's at practice, or during the game. MJ asked him about the close win over Binghamton 68-67 and how they have faced a lot of adversity. He said that they have found a bunch of different ways to win while playing in several different atmospheres so far this season.
I really enjoyed our visit with Coach Killings today and I believe he has done an excellent job in his first season at the University at Albany. UAlbany hosts New Hampshire this Saturday February 19th at 4 p.m. at SEFCU Arena.
