Union Clinches First NCAA Tournament Trip in 13 Years
Jeff Behrman has the Union football program rolling in his fourth season in Schenectady. On Saturday afternoon, the Dutchmen won 31-21 at Ithaca; clinching the Liberty League title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
It's a complete about-face from the 2015 season in which the Dutchmen were 0-10 prior to Behrman's arrival. Now, four years later, Union is two wins away from a perfect regular season. Not only is that in play, Behrman has led the Dutchmen to a conference title for the first time since 2011 and the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
In Saturday's upset of Ithaca, Ike Irabor ran for three touchdowns for the second time this season and the Dutchmen defense had two interceptions. The two regular season games that remain are both at home; against Utica next week and then in the Dutchman Shoes game against RPI.
