Later this evening the College Football Playoff committee will announce the second group of four College Football teams they believe as of this moment should be in the playoffs. This four normally changes in some way each and every week. leading into tonight's unveiling we reached out to the Sporting News' Bill Bender. Does Bender see any surprises in our future and can any team actually compete with the Alabama Crimson Tide?

Bill Bender doesn't see any major surprises in tonight's four teams when they're revealed. Alabama will be number one, Clemson stays put at two and then Notre Dame and Michigan should round out the top Four. The real question is, with how dominant Alabama has been all season is there any team that can truly challenge them for the National Championship? Just by Bender's tone you can hear that it's a long shot at best but Clemson as the clear top program not named Alabama and Michigan based on the strength of their defense might be our only hope for a competitive championship game.
