What Moves Will The New York Yankees Make This Offseason?
While the Yankees did lose out on Juan Soto, they still made and are making several key moves during these MLB Winter Meetings. They signed left handed starting pitcher Max Fried to an 8 year $218 million deal which is a good move. While Fried doesn't necessarily blow you away, he is a very good pitcher who grew up a Yankee fan too. But general manager Brian Cashman does not appear done. The rumors are Kyle Tucker, Cody Bellinger, Christian Walker, and a few others are linked to the Bronx Bombers. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Acquiring pitcher Max Fried is a nice pivot after losing Superstar slugger Juan Soto to the New York Mets. The Yankees will now try and prevent teams from scoring runs and Fried is a two time All Star who gives the Yankees and outstanding number two pitcher behind Gerrit Cole. The Yankees overpaid to get Fried, but they didn’t have much of choice because other teams were willing to do the same. Fried has a lifetime ERA of right around 3.00 and should be a good fit. Now the Yankees need to add a power hitting first basemen.
The Yankees will still have a very good roster in 2025 as they are always a desired destination to play. I trust that Brian Cashman will get it done and make some moves to improve this team. The Fried move is a step in the right direction and with more moves the Yankees will be right back in contention in the American League.
