It was a disappointing 2022 season for the UAlbany football team.  They went 3-8 during the regular season and struggled on the road.  They had some big conference wins late in the season but their was room for optimism when the season ended.  The offense was always very talented and quarterback Reese Poffenbarger had a tremendous season.  They were very deep at wide receiver and are bring back 19 new players for the 2023 season.  I spent Monday afternoon and evening at Casey Stadium watching spring football begin for UAlbany and I was impressed with what I saw.  Below is my quick take on this from The Times Union:

After watching UAlbany Spring Football practice on Monday, I realized just how talented the offense will be this season. Reese Poffenbarger returns at quarterback after his Rookie of the Year season in 2022. The Great Danes lose tight end Thomas Greaney but Ian Renninger is sitting on a big season and Ichabod Crane's Haydon Broockmann will also be a threat at TE. UAlbany is 8 deep at wide receiver led by grad student Julian Hicks and sophomore Roy Alexander. Head coach Greg Gattuso needs to find a running back to replace Todd Sibley, but mark my words, UAlbany will put points on the board in the upcoming season.

MJ and I discussed last year's season and this upcoming season yesterday morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Below is our full conversation on this.

August 26th the season will begin at home vs Fordham at 7 p.m. with MJ on the call solo.  It seems far away but the UAlbany football season will be here again in a hurry.
