Which Local MLB Pitcher Did The New York Mets Just Get?
This New York Mets team needs some serious help, especially in the bullpen. They have been imploding recently and Monday afternoon in Pittsburgh was a perfect representation of that. The problem is, there are not many name guys on the bullpen market with the MLB trade deadline fast approaching. However the Mets just the other day made a move to acquire local 518 relief pitcher Matt Gage. gage is a very talented lefty who throws hard and has a great repertoire of pitches. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
The New York Mets bullpen needs a major overhaul because they are really hurting their team and some of the quality starts, after the Mets rallied from a miserable first two months of the season back to respectability. Broadalbin Perth and Siena grad Matt Gage just landed in the Mets organization from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he will probably get his chance to help after a few appearances at Triple-A Syracuse. After grinding through the minor league, Gage has been on the big-league rosters of Toronto, Houston and most recently the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Gage has been a true journeyman and I have no doubt that he will be called up here very soon with the New York Mets because they will surely need him soon. I love seeing our local guys grind through the big leagues and finally get a great opportunity. Matt Gage will be a main arm out of the bullpen for the Mets here in weeks to come.
