In a long holiday weekend dominated by local sports, the lead local story was by far and away the Bethlehem baseball team winning the Section II title.  Their head coach Matt Rehbit is one of the really good guys around the Capital Region and a personal friend of mine.  He had a special group and a really good team filled with several talented players.  Nobody deserves this more than him.  He was even ejected from the game and had to watch the ending up in the press box.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:

Best part for me watching the high school baseball championships at Joe Bruno Stadium was watching Bethlehem win its first Section II title since 1998. It was a year later in 1999 that Matt Rehbjt took over the program and to watch them finally get over the hump and break the drought with a win over Averill Park was the feel-good story of the weekend. His players love playing for him and Rehbit deserved it. He's always loose and relaxed and never takes the game to seriously and his style of coaching finally paid off.

MJ and I had on Matt Rehbit earlier today right here on Big Board Sports on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio.  Below is our full interview with him enjoy.

Now Bethlehem looks to make a run at the states and they could make a deep run here.  I'm just so happy for the Bethlehem community as the parents coaches and players especially deserve this.
