The Detroit Tigers just got a good one when they signed Tommy Kahnle to a one year deal to join their bullpen which needed some significant help.  Kahnle has a great year with the Yankees and has a nasty changeup.  He will need to incorporate other pitches in his repertoire.  The Tigers are on the rise within the American League and have a lot of promise with being a young team.  Kahnle is a great clubhouse guy and brings a ton of positive energy.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Shaker grad Tommy Kahnle is a good fit in Detroit and his departure is a tough loss for the New York Yankees. Khanle is coming off two outstanding seasons in New York and last year was a big part of the Yankees making a trip to the World Series. Believe it or not, the Yankee could not afford to keep Kahnle because GM Brian Cashman wanted to bring him back, but they were not willing to pay him over 7 million for one season. Detroit is a good young team who surprised everyone with their playoff appearance last season and adding Kahnle who had a 2.38 era in 92 games over the last two seasons only strengthens the Tigers bullpen.

The Yankees will surely miss him as he had several big moments at Yankee Stadium especially in the playoffs.  I am rooting for Kahnle and I will say it until I am blue in the face, nothing is better than seeing former Section II players succeed in the big leagues.
