After months of questions, concern, and speculation, the administrations at Siena College and the University at Albany have reached an agreement to keep the "Albany Cup" basketball rivalry going.

As was previously reported, the deal is for three years. Siena will host the Danes this season at the Times Union Center on Dec. 12. The game will be part of Saints' season ticket holders packages.

"It's one of the greatest mid-major games in the country, and it's important to sports fans in downtown Albany and throughout the Capital Region. Our players love playing in the game, and I'm excited to see it continue," said Saints' men's basketball coach Jimmy Patsos.

In year two, the Danes will host the game at SEFCU Arena, something that makes head coach Will Brown and Athletic Director Mark Benson happy.

"It has been a goal of mine to get a game in the SEFCU Arena, so to see it come to fruition makes me very happy for our season ticket holders, fans, and alums. The Albany community is very supportive of both programs and this is a good series for the area," said Brown.

And finally, in year three, the two men's teams will play at the Times Union Center as part of a pseudo-tournament. Each team will play two "high-major" opponents on the road before playing each other.

That game will not be on either teams season ticket package, but both teams will have the same opportunity to sell tickets.

The women will play at the Times Union Center as a Siena home game that year.
