Angels, Haren, Shutout Yankees 6-0
The New York Yankees continued to have their offense stifled by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as Dan Haren pitched a complete game shutout to defeat the Yankees 6-0. Haren only allowed 4 hits over his 9 innings of work.
Find out the injury updates for the Yankees including a new addition to the list after Saturday night's game.
The injury list for the Yankees grew on Saturday night as Russell Martin re-injured his thumb and was removed from the game for, of all Yankee players, Jorge Posada! Posada made his 2011 debut behind the plate as the emergency catcher. Francisco Cervelli was not available since he was also unavailable due to concussion-like symptoms.
In addition to those injuries, Alex Rodriguez's thumb needs a few days of rest due to a strain. Finally, Nick Swisher's MRI on his elbow revealed inflammation and requires about 5 days worth of rest.
In the meantime, the Yankees' offense has been a no-show as both Dan Haren and Jared Weaver have cooled off their bats. The only run to score in the two games was Jesus Montero's third home run of the season and of his career.
The Red Sox lost yet again so the Yankees still have the two game lead in the loss column in the AL East standings. The Yankees will try again against the Angels on Sunday afternoon as they'll face Ervin Santana while the Yanks counter with Freddy Garcia.
