It wasn't too long ago that I broke the news about the Yankees signing Mark Prior to a minor league deal, which probably made you wonder if Brian Cashman has watched "Back To The Future" one too many times. Well today, I think it's time to ask Cashman what he's smoking!

Bartolo Colon

According to ESPNNewYork.com, the Yankees have signed Bartolo Colon to a one-year minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Do not adjust your computer monitors, you read that correctly; the Yankees have signed a guy who hasn't pitched in the Majors since 2009.

The last time Colon made 20+ starts in a season was 2005, when he won the AL Cy Young with a 21-8 record and a 3.48 ERA for the Angels. Since then, Colon has gone just 14-21 in 47 starts with the Angels, the Red Sox and the White Sox.

In case you're keeping score at home, that means during the entire offseason, the Yankees only signed 1 player that isn't considered "past his prime" or "over the hill:" that would be new set-up man and closer-in-waiting Rafael Soriano. Allow me to ask this for you, Yankee fans: WTF?
