Apocalyptic Skies Cover New York, Leaving Yankees’ Game a Mystery
The atmosphere around Yankee Stadium is an eerie one at best.
With wildfires continuing to burn in Quebec and Nova Scotia, the air quality in New York continues to suffer. Smoke from the fires travelled through Upstate New York and the Capital Region on Monday and Tuesday, and as of today, it is heavily impacting the New York City area.
Now, the fate of tonight's New York Yankees' game remains in the balance, and recently-posted photos and videos have captured the surreal setting.
Reporters Share Wild Weather Reports from Around Yankees Stadium
As we get closer to first pitch of the New York Yankees' game against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, the scene at Yankee Stadium is getting increasingly tenuous. The air quality around the ballpark has decreased drastically during the day, leaving the status of the game in limbo.
As of 3:40PM, NBC News' Daniel Arkin reported that New York City's air quality index had reached more than 340 on the air quality index scale this afternoon, making it the worst in the world, according to IQAir, a Swiss monitoring service.

Team and league officials will meet with weather experts around 4PM today, and make a decision on the status of today's game. Should the game be postponed, it will become a waiting game, as we all wait to see if the air quality improves before tomorrow's game.
