‘Bag of History': Please Don’t Buy This Ridiculous Piece of NY Yankees’ History

We've seen baseball fans sell bats, balls, gloves, and countless other types of memorabilia online in order to try to make a few extra dollars. This next story, however, takes that concept to a whole new level.

Last week, New York Yankees' slugger Aaron Judge hit his 61st home run of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays. The blast happened up north, at Toronto's Rogers Centre, and put Judge in the record books, as he officially tied Roger Maris' American League single-season home run record.

One particularly industrious baseball fan wasn't able to catch the home run ball, but they found another, more ridiculous, way to make money off of the historic moment.

Fan Attempts to Sell "Bag of Air" From Historic Game at Rogers Centre Online

The above headline tells most of the story, but allow me to, well, try to explain. A picture began to circulate on Twitter from the account @YankeeWRLD, and was later snagged by the Yankee-specific account from Jomboy Media, @TalkinYanks.

The picture in question showed an online sale, posted by a user who appeared to be at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The sale was for a Ziploc bag of air, which was "captured" at Rogers Centre during the game in which Aaron Judge hit his 61st home run of the season.

Truthfully, I'm not big on the section of eBay for "bags of air", so I'm not sure if the price of $195 is a rip-off, or a bargain. I'll try to find that out in short-order.

Very honestly, this is a win-win for whoever the seller is. At worst, you've created a viral sensation, and poked a bit of fun at the rabid sports memorabilia market, which sees people being ripped-off for less-than-ideal deals every day.

At best, however, you make $195 before tax off of someone with too much money, and time, on their hands.

Well played, indeed.
