#VoteGardy has paid off for the New York Yankees outfielder. It has been announced that Brett Gardner will replace Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon, who is expected to miss eight weeks after straining his left groin on Wednesday night.

The Yankees were campaigning hard for Gardner to get into the All-Star game since the 31-year old got the fan vote, and peers vote snub. Gardner was one of five AL candidates on the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote, which allows fans to pick each league's final player via voting until 4 p.m. ET on Friday.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones will automatically get the nod into the starting lineup for Gordon, since he was the top vote-getter among his peers not to be selected by the fans. Gardner joins fellow Yankees, pitcher Dellin Betances, and first baseman Mark Teixeira.
