It has been a really rough stretch for the Siena men's basketball team here at the end of the regular season.  They have lost five in a row and now don't have any momentum heading into the MAAC Conference tournament in Atlantic City New Jersey.  The Saints will take on Niagara on Thursday night at 9:30 p.m.  The two teams split during the regular season and both won on the road in close games.  Niagara comes in losing five of their last six games.  Both teams are struggling and something will give as it will be the last game of the year for one of the two teams.  Andrew Platek has been really struggling shooting the basketball lately and you sure hope to get him back into his lights out shooting form.  Freshman Michael Eley was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and you have to like his bright future with the Saints.

MJ and I had head coach Carmen Maciarello on with us earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Coach is ready for the game tonight and says his team has put this losing streak behind them.  Below is our full conversation with him.

If Siena beats Niagara than it will be a date with Rick Pitino and Iona in the semifinals on Friday night.  I think the Saints can get it done and win tonight and advance.  They have to snap this losing streak.  You sure hope Javian McCollum, Jackson Stormo, and Andrew Platek are all rolling because Niagara is good and can score with Andre Hammond.  It should be a great quarterfinal matchup in the MAAC.
