Jeff Hoffman easily had his best season so far in the major leagues statistically and came up clutch all season long for the Philadelphia Phillies.  He has an awesome repertoire of pitches including a filthy slider and splitter.  Pretty much all of his numbers went up and so did his confidence.  As we all know, the Shaker High School graduate is a true journeyman and has battled through injuries and several different destinations.  Below is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

Shaker grad Jeff Hoffman completed the best season of his eight-year Major League career in Philadelphia this season. Hoffman posted a 2.57 ERA in the postseason and a 2.41 ERA in the regular season which is better than any of his years in Colorado and Cincinnati. Hoffman is best coming out of the bullpen after trying to make a run in a starting role. Hoffman was one win away from a trip to the World Series, but the Phillies are built for the future, and it won't be Hoffman's last chance to reach the Fall Classic.

We always root hard for the local product and I have followed his career closely here in the big leagues and will continue to do so.  He is an outstanding individual to talk to and and nothing makes me happier than seeing out Section II baseball players succeed in the big leagues.  Although Jeff fell just short of the Fall Classic this season, he will be back here soon and will get a World Series ring.
